Is This Goodbye? 37 x 46 $2000
The sea ice serves as home and hunting ground for the polar bear. It camouflages him from his only predator, man, and hides him as he ambushes his prey. As the earth warms and the sea ice melts, precious polar bear habitat is irrevocably lost, as is access to the nutrient rich sea mammals that the polar bear depends on. The Arctic is the fastest warming region on earth, and current estimates predict a decline in wild polar bear populations of ~30% by 2050. But polar bears are just the poster child for the effects of climate change in the Arctic. For how many other species will this also be goodbye?
