This linoleum block print features a Palo Verde tree, hand printed in an olive-green blend of Caligo Safe Wash ink on Speedball printing paper. The printed image measures 6 × 3.75 inches on 9 × 6 inch paper.

Native to the desert Southwest, the Palo Verde is uniquely adapted to its environment. Its leaves are tiny and may be dropped during periods of drought or cold, yet the tree continues to photosynthesize through its green trunk and branches. Like many desert plants, it is protected by sharp thorns. The Palo Verde also plays an important ecological role as a nurse tree, providing shelter and protection for young saguaro cacti as they grow.
